Vascular access is a critical medical procedure that enables healthcare professionals to access the bloodstream directly. This process is fundamental in various medical scenarios, including the administration of intravenous medications, chemotherapy, and nutritional supplements, as well as for blood sampling and hemodialysis.
Ensuring high-quality, reliable vascular access devices are available is essential for effective patient care, reducing the risk of complications, and enhancing the overall treatment experience.
Medical Specialties Australasia provides an unrivalled portfolio of vascular access brands to support Australian clinicians in their pursuit of improved patient care.

Catheter Securement

SecurAcath
The current standard practices around venous access device securement include the use of sutures or adhesives, both challenged with complications. Sutures are designed and indicated for wound closure and not device securement. Orientation of sutured lines leads to compromised dressings, and displaced catheters because of the tensions and weight of the lumens, patients’ hair, skin folds and moisture. The impetus for infection is obvious. Adhesive securement is challenged by many of the variables coupled by the weight and tensions exposing dislodgment and migration risk with every dressing change. SecurAcath offers a single application solution that stabilises the catheter beneath the insertion site, throughout the entire catheter dwell time. This offers clinician confidence, ease and success for the needed care for your venous access catheters. With a suite of clinical support resources, we will support your practitioners every step of the way.
Adhesive

SecurePortIV
The most versatile care and maintenance device in vascular access. Standard of care in vascular access typically involves the use of multiple products for securement and insertion site protection. See how SecurePortIV® Catheter Securement Adhesive combines multiple patient and caregiver benefits into one product.
Lock Solutions

KiteLock
Make central line complications a thing of the past. KiteLock 4% serves as a versatile solution in medical care, offering multifaceted benefits. As an antimicrobial, it plays a crucial role in infection prevention, reducing the risk of bloodstream infections associated with central venous catheters. Additionally, its anticoagulant properties make it effective in occlusion management, preventing the blockages that can disrupt treatment. Furthermore, KiteLock 4% acts as an antibiofilm agent, eradicating biofilms caused by a variety of bacterial and fungal species, including resistant strains. This comprehensive approach enhances patient care by addressing key challenges in catheter use.
Catheters

BioFlo PICC
The BioFlo PICC is the first and only PICC manufactured with Endexo Technology, a permanent and non-eluting integral polymer blended into the polyurethane of the catheter shaft. Providing a catheter material more resistant to the accumulation of blood components, the BioFlo PICC has demonstrated an average of 87% less thrombus accumulation on its surface, compared to commonly used PICCs (based on platelet count).

BioFlo Midline
The BioFlo Midline Catheter is an effective solution for preserving a patient’s peripheral access. It provides a cost-effective alternative to multiple IV site rotations for patients who need short-term venous access. This improves the likelihood that the patient will receive his or her ordered therapy, which may lead to a shorter hospital stay and improved patient satisfaction.

Xcela PICC
The Xcela® PICC with PASV Valve Technology is designed to provide a high degree of safety, ease and confidence in patient care.

Tip Location

C3 Wave
The C3 Wave System is an easy-to-use, app-based wireless ECG system designed to free up a clinician’s hands by removing excess wires and allowing more focus on patient care.
Featuring software that is advanced, yet, easy-to-use, the ECG waveform is wirelessly transmitted to a tablet which allows the operator to view and record changes to the ECG waveform as the tip of the catheter approaches the heart. As the PICC approaches the atrium of the heart, the P wave in the ECG waveform shows substantial changes. This system is designed to aid the visualization of changes in P wave amplitude.
The C3 Wave System integration offers intelligent design and functionality to meet clinician needs. The charging base not only charges the patient hub but also allows the user to store all wireless components in one location.

Ports

Smart Port CT
Introducing the expansion of the SmartPort CT family of power-injectable ports – to include low-profile and mini models for repeated treatments like chemotherapy and for use with computed tomography (CT). The tangential outlet and clear-flow technology set up efficient flushing action to hyper-cleanse the entire reservoir. Each model features a lightweight design and a CT-engraved port body for better identification. These ports are clinically indicated for power injections up to 5mL/sec and a 300 psi pressure limit setting. They are MRI-conditional—3 Tesla.

Vortex Port
AngioDynamics’ Vortex revolutionises port design with a rounded chamber that has no sludge-harbouring corners or dead spaces.
State-of-the-art tangential outlets and clear-flow technology set up efficient flushing action to hyper-cleanse the entire chamber, resist sludge buildup, and reduce occlusions and infections. This represents a major improvement over conventional port technology in which perpendicular outlets produce chaotic flow and inefficient flushing, and square corners that promote the formation of sludge within dead space.
Designed for extended life, Vortex ports provide better patient outcomes, fewer complications, less nursing time and lower expenses than when a conventional port is placed. Vortex models include the LP, MP, TR and VX.

SmartPort+
The SmartPort+ implantable port is the latest in implantable port innovation from AngioDynamics and combines two of our best-in-class technologies, Vortex and Endexo, into the port your patient deserves.
The SmartPort+ implantable port is for patients whose providers require long-term access to the central venous system for blood specimen withdrawal and administration of fluids.

Needles

LifeGuard
The AngioDynamics LifeGuard Safety Infusion Set is designed to access implanted vascular ports to administer fluids and/or to withdraw blood. The LifeGuard Safety Infusion Set is a 90° non-coring needle composed of wings, tubing, a universal Luer connector, optional Needleless Y-site, tubing clamp(s), needlestick guard and needle trap that facilitates the safe removal of the needle by encapsulating the needle during vascular port de-accessing (to help prevent needlestick injuries).

16 Gauge High-Flow Needle
1” 16 Ga, latex-free, non-coring design, straight, high-flow needle.

Antiseptic Solutions

SoluPrep
Antiseptic for preparation of the patient’s skin prior to an invasive procedure on dry skin sites only. Helps reduce bacteria that potentially can cause skin infections. Efficacy on moist sites such as the groin has not been demonstrated. Please refer to the product package for complete instructions for use.
