Soft tissue reinforcement is a medical approach aimed at strengthening and supporting weakened or damaged soft tissues within the body. This method is particularly crucial in the treatment of hernias, where parts of the intestine or abdominal fat protrude through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles.
By using specialised medical devices such as TiLENE’s collection of meshes, clinicians can provide additional support to the affected area, preventing further protrusion and aiding in the healing process. Medical Specialties Australasia distributes select items from the TiLENE® range from PFM Medical to support Australian clinicians in their pursuit of improved patient care.
Please consult product labels and inserts for indications, intended purposes/uses and, where relevant, the associated contraindications, hazards, warnings, precautions, limitations, adverse effects, and directions/instructions for use.

TiLENE Mesh (Hernia)
TiLENE® Mesh is indicated for use in the reinforcement of soft tissue where weakness exists, such as in the repair of inguinal hernia. TiLENE® mesh implants are type 1a polypropylene meshes (macroporous, lightweight and monofilament) with a hydrophilic (“water-loving”) surface due to titanisation. A hydrophilic mesh implant integrates better into the surrounding tissue than a hydrophobic (“water-repellent”) material.
TiLENE® Mesh is available in two different weights, which are 16 g/m2 (TiLENE® extralight) and 35 g/m2 (TiLENE® light), to facilitate clinician preference and patient anatomy when performing hernia repair.
